Why You Have A Failing Blog & How You Can Make It A Success
Here are some of the major reasons as to why you have a failing blog. Below I will list the reasons for your failing blog and I will also give you solutions to each of these problems.
1 – Problem: You’re Not Promoting Enough
Right off the bat, the number one problem that many bloggers are making is NOT promoting their content.
Many bloggers simply write and then expect Google, or whatever blogging platform they are writing on (Medium, Vocal, Newsbreak) to distribute their content.
And I get it.
Many bloggers are not marketers. We just want to write.
Marketing is not many of our fortes, and trying to learn marketing can be a challenge unto itself.
However, writing alone is not going to bring you the traffic.
you have to understand how many blogs are being created a day. You have to take into consideration how many blogs you are competing with.
Think about how many businesses and companies also have blogs and the AUDIENCE.
Today, most people value video over written content (however, do not let this dissuade you from writing).
Simply writing and then thinking people will find your work in a sea of information will cause you to give up.
Because this train of thinking will not bring you the results, you want.
So, what can you do to remedy this?
Allow me to show you.
Solution:
Now there are two ways that you can promote your work.
The first way will be through Free traffic, and the second way will be with Paid traffic.
Free traffic is what I tried for years, with little to “mediocre” success. Free traffic can be advantageous; however, it is only advantageous as you grow, once you have built up your presence on social media or built up your email list (and this is perhaps the most important thing you need to focus on regarding traffic).
Once you have a community, then that FREE traffic becomes a reality.
But it takes time, luck, and a lot of effort to build up that community, and this is easily one of the best solutions to this problem.
Now, if you have the time and are not in a rush, then posting consistently WILL give you that community you will need to get that consistent traffic.
Creating a Facebook group, creating a Youtube channel, or having an email list (or you can work on all of them) will be all you need to promote your work.
Now, if you want fast traffic and instant results, you will want to go with paid traffic.
I know that paid traffic is not the ideal way they want to market their work for many.
But believe me, FREE TRAFFIC takes much too long for you to build that community.
I use paid traffic to get traffic to my blogs and BUILD MY EMAIL LIST (This is VERY important).
In paying for traffic, you can be guaranteed that you will get traffic to your site.
And this traffic can potentially turn into email subscribers.
The paid traffic sources I use are Taboola and Ad.fly.
Taboola is a great platform to get traffic to your blog for as little as 5 cents.
And when I say traffic, I am talking about AMERICAN TRAFFIC for 5 cents.
If you are new to ad marketing, this is VERY VERY VERY GOOD.
5 cents for USA traffic is AMAZING!
What this basically means is that if you spend $5 a day you can get 100 clicks to your site.
This is NOT bad at all.
You can sign up to Taboola.
Now, how ad marketing works is as follows.
Step 1: Sign in to your Ad Manager back office
Step 2: Create a Campaign. You will be able to pick what geographic area you want.
Step 3: Place how much you are willing to run ads for a day (I usually go with $5, and then I track that for a week)
Step 4: Track your campaign throughout the week
It is this simple.
Now, if you think spending $35 a week is too much, just think about how much you WASTE on Ubereats.
Jeezus Christ, I just ordered Ubereats, and it was $25.
I usually get Uberats three times a week. That is $75 right there.
Instead of ordering out, make the sacrifice and just have ramens for a week or two and use that money on Ad marketing,
If you get traffic and focus on building an email list, the sacrifice will be more than worth it.
2 – Problem: You’re Doing This As A Hobby & Not As A Business
This was a huge problem I had done for about a year and a half.
I was simply writing my thoughts with no business plan in mind.
I simply thought my writing alone, coupled with the ad revenue, would give me the earning that I desired.
Boy, was I ever wrong.
What I did, and I am sure many of you new bloggers are doing, is seeing my blog as a hobby or outlet and not as a business.
I allowed myself to think ad revenue would be all I needed to have a sustainable income.
But this way of thinking only stifled my economic progression, and I know it is doing the same for many of you, especially if you are focusing on Google Ads.
I personally use Ezoic.
They pay much better than Google ads.
So, if you are not going to earn money from your ad revenue, then how do you earn money with your blog?
Solution:
As I said, many see blogging as a hobby and not a business where you are failing.
How you are going to earn money from your blog is going to be through:
Affiliate marketing
Selling your course
Consulting
Building an email list and promoting for business or other bloggers (Email lists are SO important)
Whatever it is you are blogging about, know that there IS an affiliate program that you can promote on your site to earn more money.
A great place to start affiliate marketing will be with Amazon Associates.
It’s easy to begin and start, and you can potentially earn a sustainable income with Amazon Associates.
The next way can be through selling your course. People love online courses, as courses help them fix an issue they may be struggling with.
You don’t need to be on camera. You can simply have audio and slideshows to share your course.
Consulting is another option.
Help people with their issues, and you can charge them an hour for your time and skills
Email marketing.
This is one of my favorite methods for earning more revenue from my blog.
If you have an engaging email list, you will sell, promote and earn more with your email list.
Businesses will pay you $100s to $1000s for a link in one of your email promotions; no hyperbole.
BUILD YOUR EMAIL LIST…YESTERDAY!
3 – Problem: Your Readers Have No Reason To Come Back To Your Site
What is your site about?
What would be reason enough for people to revisit your site? These are two questions I never really asked myself.
As I mentioned, I simply wrote my thoughts out on a given day and then just expected traffic to come to my site.
Solution:
An easy solution to this problem is to have a seven-day challenge or exercise that you are promoting.
This will keep readers curious and ENGAGED with your site.
They will return to your site because they will be eager to see what they can learn or how the exercise will help them in their daily lives.
People like to have instructions, and they like to have a step-by-step process on how they can fix problems in their lives.
Simply give this to people, and they will return to your site.
4 – Problem: You’re Not Collecting Emails
Perhaps my BIGGEST mistake when starting as a blogger was NOT collecting emails.
I remember back when I got started; I received around 25K visitors a day to my site.
And of those visitors, I didn’t collect ONE EMAIL.
Had I collected email back in my early days, I would have had such a huge traffic source.
Many bloggers focus more on building a social media presence and completely forget about the emaillist.
And this is going to hurt you in the long run.
Emails are the most important source of traffic for ANYONE doing business online.
Solution:
“In fact, email generates $42 for every $1 spent, which is an astounding 4,200% ROI, making it one of the most effective options available.”
The solution to this problem is to COLLECT EMAILS simply.
The email autoresponder service I use is Getresponse.
If you are serious about earning money from your blog, you need to collect emails.
Not only do you have consistent traffic, but you can also market affiliate links, products, and as mentioned, you will be able to get paid from businesses, companies, and other bloggers for sending out an email on their behalf.
When you have an email list, you have YOUR TRAFFIC SOURCE.

5 – Problem: You’re Not Building A Community
Get rid of this “If you build it, they will come” mentality.
Writing your work and just hoping it will take off will not work.
And you may have already gotten this from the article thus far.
You have to think about building a community if you are trying to earn money online.
Solution:
The solution is to focus on BUILDING THAT EMAIL LIST, create a Facebook group, maybe start a Youtube Channel.
Whatever you do, make sure you are building a community.
6 – Problem: You’re Not Staying Consistent
Not staying consistent is something I think all of us have succumbed to at some point in time.
And I get it.
It can be challenging to keep writing and keep delivering content when you aren’t seeing the numbers that you would like to see.
But in not staying consistent, you are just setting yourself up for failure.
Solution:
The solution to this is to simply SCHEDULE your work.
If you have your blog, you can schedule your work for the week or the month.
You can do the same thing on social media platforms.
Tools such as Buffer allow you to schedule your pins, images, videos for the month.
So all you need to do is sit down for a day or two, grind and place your work in these tools to be scheduled on days you want to upload.
If you find staying consistent challenging, I highly recommend that you check these tools out.
